You can do the same thing using a standard stationary bike, but Peloton makes it more of a community/entertaining to use. If you don't want cycling shoes, you can probably replace the pedals with standard flat pedals from amazon for cheap (under $30)
Honestly there's so much that affects how a 4 link behaves. Go under your truck and measure all of your possible link mount positions (frame side upper and lower, axle side upper and lower). Then get on the 4 link calculator and start plugging in random values and see what each change affects...
The two won't fight, since they pivot at both upper and lower mounts on the axle, like a linked truck. The only difference is that, like you said, the lower link (spring) will grow a bit as it bumps, possibly causing the pinion to want to point down. This can be mitigated by upper link...
