Hey guys so I've never done a build thread on this thing in the 8 ish years I've had this thing but figured I'd start one. I'm also hoping it will push me to take more pictures of it.
Started off stock in 2016 with 72k from the original owner and stayed that way until 2021 when I hit a deer (perfectly square I might add 🤌) then it snowballed

Both fenders were un touched from the hit but a new core support got put in and finally built bumpers for it and ended up putting TRD pro shocks on it with dobinson rear springs. The rear bumper lived without a swing out for a couple years also.

Finally ended up building the swing out in 2022ish and it did not survive the 400 plus miles of wheeling and duning around lol 😅 live and learn also ended up putting a tube roof rack on that another buddy got with his 4runner .

Ended up fixing and making a totally new swing out this time with bronze bushings instead of hiems. Works way better now and haven't had an issue since.

In 2023 I started the year off getting laid off which was a huge blessing in disguise as I had some money set aside so no I had time and money so I embarked on the longest solo trip I've ever done which was just over 3k miles in 3 weeks. Went down the 1 and saw so many cool places and saw family in nor cal and then ended up going to koh for a couple days as well. The goal of the trip was to camp and stay on the coast as long as possible. Was hands down one of the best trips I've ever done.

After that trip I decided that I was gonna change stuff up again and go back to school and get out of working in the mud and literally breaking my back so I moved back to OC after 8 years of being in Washington and then I flipped on how the 4runner was set up. I finally after years put on a pile of parts I had accumulated.
Fox 2.5 coilover, TC arms modified Cv axles, brake lines, rear links, skids, lights switch controller ,different rear springs
And all the fluid coolers (trans, p/s and engine oil) along with a full prep on ball joints tierods and anything else I could find. It was a whole new rig

So the season started and went out on the first trip (as underprepped as possible) went off with a few hiccups to say the least. Ended up going to jv and stuffed it hard the first night hard enough to rip the threads right out of the rear upper shock bolt. Also lost another pair of rear skid plate bolts.
Rear shock bushings that were actually 1 random one cut in half *thanks to the manager from yucca oriellys *
Got up early the next morning and pulled the shock out and rethreaded the top best I could (fucker worked mint the rest of the weekend)
Replaced the skid bolts and loctite and I'm pretty sure I'll have to drill and tap a size up next time.
Labor 2hrs
Drink of choice- Irish coffee
Cussing at myself for building a pile of trash- atleast twice

At the end of my trip to jv we loaded up onto the trailer and just doing a final inspection noticed the new trac bar bracket contacts the frame at full bump.
There was that and the fact that the driver upper control arm was almost a big issue lol IMG_20241028_133146_525.webp
But not a huge deal the bolt is slightly bent but still is removable so I'll run it til I can't overall put about 100ish miles on it in the dirt and my only real complaint is the rear not keeping up

So get back home and decide I need to clearly do a bolt check and a decent prep. Had the opportunity to pick up up some sway away 3 tube's that were easy enough to cram in the back for the season. Also did new straps and added bump pads off the axle. Also did a bolt and hiem check and everything all gotten tight.
Time 5 hrs of actual work 4 hrs of drinking beer
Sick gnar gnar travel numbers 11.125
Beers crushed-32
Tasks actually accomplished idk the thing runs and drives

So little snag going on for the 4runner since Thanksgiving I ended up punching one of the motor mounts through the frame and cracking a control arm mount.
Things been outta of the circle as I've been doing other stuff on friends rigs.

Got the bumps in good enough to move it around to the new place in a couple weeks gonna take the shocks to onyx motorsports later this week and have new springs put on and refresh them as they are absolutely cooked. Also got the spindles somewhat straight and welded up so the front will work for now

After the front fender mounts and core support i pulled the entire harness out of the car to go through it and remove the airbag harness and a few things for packaging. Out came the dash and everything else too
