Finally have some time to sit down and go through my photos from the past few days, this was my group's first time to RATR. We decided to take the Mojave Road from Afton Canyon out to Laughlin to get the full experience. Friday, we left the Riverside area around 5am and met at the Afton exit by 7am. Once we were aired down and all setup, we began our day. The river crossings weren't all that bad, roughly 20-25 inches at the deepest. Afton was a breeze, the river was above ground for most of the way through the canyon which was a nice sight. From there, we were able to visit the Rock Monument, we all signed our names as usual. Does anyone know what happened to the American Flag and pole that was there? I signed it about 10 years ago and it was not there. Anyways, Soda Lake bed was muddy and not able to be completed, we took Rasor Rd on out to the 15 and continued down Kelbaker Rd. We did stop at the Lava Tubes and the Mojave Mailbox, everyone traded off trinkets and signed the scrap book. We had one truck in our group hit a set of boulders near the Joshua Trees and took out both passenger side tires. We tossed on the spare and patched the other sidewall with several plugs, here we had decided it was best to take Powerline to Cima and hit the highway. We rolled into Laughlin around 5pm, checked into the Edgewater, got some beers and checked out the race trucks. Saturday & Sunday were pretty windy, there were a few rollovers and minor accidents but nothing too serious. Overall, the trip was awesome and it was great to be away from the phone & work! This will probably be an annual trip for us,

If any others were out there, post on up!

Regarding the flag pole, when I ran it a few years ago the BLM or Parks Dept. had put up a sign that everything was being removed. Some folks had expanded the old frog statue to a bunch of other piles of random crap and they decided to put a stop to it by claiming it was littering the preserve, which technically I guess it is. I did miss when it was just a flag, an old ammo can, and that one huge ceramic frog out there.

Thank you for clearing this up, I'm glad I got to experience it when it was all there.
