Pretty text book 1987 4runner build with the goal in mind to hit hard trails
and have the reliability to drive it there and back plus everywhere else!
Kinda figure if you drive it all the time you know it better, and most the
problems are dialed out before it sees the dirt. . . and my parking is very limited haha.
Been the daily driver for over ten years now and been from Canada to Cabo,
all over Califorina, Utah, Arizona and more under its own power.
The interior is pretty bare bones but adaptable to haul bikes, shirt boxes,
people and sleep in it when it's too cold or windy for a tent.
The roof rack has seen some heavy use too, boats, plywood, and
more shirt boxes. Spare oil and a few parts jammed all up in the sides
to keep the open floorplan, no stereo so the bums that sleep in it don't steal it in Long Beach.
JDM 3rz swap from a toyota grandvia van
(different intake and factory with no EGR than what the US gets,
and came with a rear sump oil pan) LCE header, 3 core turbo radiator.
Has a extra 12 gallon rear gas tank plus the stock 17 gallon. So I've gotten 500 miles on a fill up,
usually around 450, but I really like not having to haul extra gas on long trips and can skip
the expensive gas stations in the middle of nowhere.
Solid axle swap with new +5" TG housing with some custom gussets,
5:29 gears ARB locker, chromo axles with Longfield birfs,
Red or Dead frame plate/steering box relocation,
Tundra brakes with a Landcruiser 1" master and tacoma dual diaphram booster.
Rear grizzly locker 5:29 gears, 1.5" spacers to kinda match the front and a
crack in the spring perch that might be leaking. Might go TG rear housing soon-ish
Very broken in TG 4" springs, leans to the driver because it has one more leaf on the passenger side haha.
Billy 5100 shocks upgrading to Kings soon-ish
Dual cases with TG adaptor with the 4.70/2.28 combo behind a W56.
TG rear bumper and front winch plate, with a Super winch 10k winch bluetooth works every time.
Couple Baja design lights and the factory ones are upgraded to LED bulbs in H4 housings to look stock
37" Falken wild peaks on vison beadlocks, Never balanced them, just threw em on and
been great on the daily and a game changer on the trails.
It's rusting from the top down from living at the beach for a decade, most the
dents are from the Rubicon specifically for some reason, but I try and keep it 4runner shaped.
Huge shoutout to Yotamasters for having all the parts this thing has needed through the years
plus the knowhow and experince with this pedigree of shitboxes, Shuttsfab for helping me execute
my fabrication ideas, Baja designs, superwinch, Falken tires, vison wheels, factory BS and ALLOY ARMOR!
Here's a buncha old photos of it, Alot has changed over the years but
it's stayed pretty much the same, just more dialed and more patina.
