KOH Fireworks issue / discussion

Start it off with i have never been to KOH, never been to interested really.

BUT, i do not understand how Fireworks are such an issue and the trash and drunks are not, based on the videos i see daily during the event. I posed the question a few weeks ago when the original video of the the promoter (i think it was) went viral and Cody owner of laser town PM'd me and said call me lets discuss, So i did. His big thing was and i assume he is in the know somehow is that the fireworks are non stop, I guess that's pretty annoying for the locals and everyone. But is that the real reason fireworks are the hot topic?

That seems like i a pretty piss poor excuse, and seems like Fireworks are the scape goat. There has to be something else behind the scenes, doesn't there? i now fire works are illegal, but so it littering and Drunk driving. I know every year people blow hands off, well that's their problem for probably being stupid and probably under the influence. Cody said fireworks are being shot at people during these night time rock hill take overs too, and that sucks and someone will get hurt but again that has nothign to do with KOH that is idiots being idiots.

Now all these social media folks are saying target the fireworks people, call them out, confront them, report them. To me that seems like that is a murder charge waiting to happen, becuase again the idiots shooting fireworks aka stupid and don't get it are now being confronted by Mr. I care about KOH Kevin andnext thing you know the idiot attacks the Kevin and now real issues happen like fights and potentially worse violence.

Anyone care to discuss or post an opinion? Or tellme im off base and just don't get it?

my view on it from that interview is fireworks are illegal on a state and federal level so it’s pissing off BLM, local police and everyone else involved. On top of that people blowing hands doesn’t look good when your applying for insurance for the event

Unfortunately as events get bigger and bigger the amount of BS also grows. Unfortunately not everybody that is headed out to the hammers is of the same mindset as the people that care.

Maybe the event organizers should get Hell’s Angels some 250’s in exchange for some private security.

A big component of it is that much of the event is on military land, hence no private party drones allowed in the airspace. Fireworks in the airspace is a big no-no as well.

Last year was my first year at KOH and the fireworks were non-stop. Additionally, i heard that somebody blew off a hand at Choc Thunder, but cannot confirm, wouldn't surprise me with the non-sense going on Fri and Sat night.

All of the promotion of no fireworks made a huge difference this year, while there were still some it was much more limited in my opinion. Whatever it takes to keep KOH going I am for.

I feel like it is the invincible 20yr olds (was one at one point in my life) that are causing the chaos at night. Just my thoughts.

Yes fireworks are illegal on state and federal level. I live in the desert a different part. We see our fair share and my dog hates them. But we manage. I'm sure it's nothing like what's happening down there.

I think the drunk assed people fighting in the rocks needs to be stopped too. Someone is going to be killed smacking their head on one of those big assed rocks. Plus I'm seeing people being pummeled while they're already down curled in a ball for protection.

We were taught never to beat a man while he's down. Give him the opportunity to get back up. I mean after all fair is fair. It's definitely NOT A FAIR FIGHT, when 20+ people are kicking and hitting someone while down.

The shitshow I'm seeing on social media is sure to get it closed down. In my day it was Barstow to Vegas, the Mint races and Baja races. We got shut down because the green police said it was bad for the desert environment. What I'm seeing is way worse than anything we did.

This is supposed to be a fun sport. We as people should keep it fair, fun and clean.

I see some groups doing their part. King of the canners, Poly Performance trash bags to mention a few. The videos of people coming together to clean up every morning my hat is off to you ladies and gentlemen. That's the off-road spirit I grew up with. Not the attitude of it's only the desert, nobody cares.

Remember there are people like myself call the desert home and to us it's beautiful and a way of life we chose.

In closing enjoy yourselves leave it better than you found it, and for goodness sake quit mob fighting. Take care of business the old school way one on one
