Planning a trip out to Johnson Valley for Easter weekend - Friday though Sunday (March 29-31)
All are welcome to join as this will be a kid friendly event.

Tentative plan is to wheel Friday and Saturday thoughout JV and maybe Cougar Buttes.

Easter egg hunt on Sunday before heading home.

As per usual - RC Cars and Kids Dirt Bikes are encouraged.

Post up here if your interested in attending and what type of vehicle your bringing so we can put some sort of plan together.

Looking forward to this going to bring out the fam... and 4 runner.

Any thoughts on campsite? I haven't camped out there other than for KOH.

Was looking at Fissure Mtn trail... not sure if this would be mellow-ish with kids?

Fissure is a mellow trail and a great view once you're on top. 100% recommend. There are also a ton of other desert trails that head out to Cougar Buttes and over on the backside near Outterlimits.

maybe that's one we could do with the fam?

another mellow run would be over to Giant Rock and Pioneer Town maybe for lunch?

Andrew (84Prerunner) and I are planning to be out there from wednesday the 27th and leaving on saturday the 30th. Not sure where exactly we'll set up camp yet but I'll be bringing my 2 kids (2yr old and 2 month old) so probably will just do some short trips around the lakebed like back door, sand dunes etc.

Alon,

we will most likely camp somewhere to the left of the lakebed. Possibly where BLGT camped for KOH this year (Next to Turkey Claw). I'll keep you posted as we get closer.

Interested in making this since the kids are off for spring break that week. Ill see how it plays out since ill be just getting back from a sisters wedding back east the weekend before…

Stoked to get out there... anyone else gunna be out in JV this weekend ?
I might head out with some fam. Maybe we’ll meet up.

I saw the cajon pass was closed earlier on Google maps, hopefully it doesn’t stay that way I don’t wanna go through big bear and deal with all the tards trying to touch snow on the side of the highway.

Rolled out Friday Afternoon about 2ish... traffic, as expected, was pretty trash getting out of the LA area... once we were out of town it was pretty smooth sailing.

Saw this clean 1st gen. We exchanged honks... both our wives had the same look of...you guys are retarded haha.

Caught up to my parents who were driving the Tundra out.

Got there just before Dark. Unloaded, hung out around the fire. I forgot how peaceful it is out in Johnson Valley when it's not KOH week.
Saturday AM woke up to a little rain but wasn't too bad.

Everyone at camp was hunkered down in their motorhomes watching movies... Meanwhile I was airing down the Tundra and the 4 runner in the rain... We had cool shit to scope out.

Loaded up and hit the trail to Giant Rock.

I tossed my mom the Keys to the 4 runner and said you are driving this back. Kayla hopped in the Tundra.

We brought some Boogie boards for Sand Sleding purposes. Found a pretty steep hill leaving Giant Rock.

By now the tarps were coming off the Jeeps and the buggies. Everyone had resurfaced and was ready to wheel. We loaded up and headed over to Turkey Claw. I again tossed the keys to my parents and said you guys are driving. Connor and I hopped in the Tundra and drove over to the trail head.

So little back story.. My Parents have almost zero offroad experience other than driving the Mouse in 2014 on Thanksgiving trip. I knew the truck could handle Turkey Claw after doing it a few months prior at KOH.

Right out of the gate. It seemed like the truck was having some difficulty with traction... It was wet from raining on all day so didn't think much of it. That combo'd with my mom never driving in the rocks before seemed to make sense. I was spotting her and it was just not popping over the rocks like it should. Another XJ that rolled through LSK dudes. Passed us and were all cheering for Mom haha even attempted to spot. Ended up getting hung up, so pulled out the winch and hooked it to XJ.

Continued up the trail to the main obstacle.

Now the Blood was flowing haha... "I just don't want to hurt your truck" or "this is supposed to be fun!?" - Mom might have been the quote for the weekend haha.
As she was resting on the front fender haha.

It was very clear the passenger front was getting no power. So 3wd to this point. no way were we quitting now haha. Send it.

oh yea and this pile needs Hydroassist bad!... She don't wanna turn for you in the rocks like this.

After trying for a little bit we ended up pulling line again. Thanks to Kim for spotting and offering up his truck for the anchor point.
