I've been wanting to build a truck to dip my toes into racing. I've chased/done pits for a few years and want to get behind the wheel. A friend of mine has an old 16 car we are trying to put back together to race but being a truck guy I'd like to build something to race after. I initially thought about some along the lines of a 7200 bitd truck but since no one races that class anymore I'm thinking a 7100 truck. I've also thought about when I rebuild my bronco to build it to race specs but its always been more of a play truck/cruiser. Building a v6 beamed ranger seams more cost effective and won't break my heart if I wad it up racing apposed to my bronco. Not looking to be super competitive out of the gate but 7100 looks more fun then trying to build my bronco to compete in 1400/1450 as I'm not ballin outa control. Intrested in peoples prospective that have raced in said classes or just in general.

I don't race, but a coworker used to race MORE and has a JeepSpeed championship winning rig. His truck has been sitting for the past 15ish years and he's wanting to sell it if you're interested in going that route.

class 2000 sounds like what you need.

Class 2000 is a good truck class to start with. Just know that finishing is half the battle with the limited class trucks.

Class 2000 in MORE is a cheap and easy way to start racing.

Cheap being used loosely. The days of cheap race trucks are long gone. I miss the old 1450 days. Some of the 2000 trucks carried that same spirit early on, but now the 2000 trucks are still +50k in fab and parts.

That doesn't mean you can't show up in a 10k pile and still have fun. And... if you play your cards right and not over drive the pile you can probably podium.

This is all I'm really shooting for. A good time for me and friends and knock it off the list of things I've always wanted to do
I mean you've been down in Mexico with KP racing that 1600 car. It's basically all race mode for half of the race. And then it's a lot of fixing things and the new 'race mode' is just getting it to the finish.

So basically if you go out there with the mindset of driving the car 70% all day you're going to have some fun.

Well it's a new year so time for a new project. Unfortunately the bronco will be pushed to the back of the line. But after reading everyone's suggestions I've decided to start looking for a truck to build into a 2000 truck. Hopefully be able to knock out a race or two this year

Perfect starting point! You don’t need big $$ parts to win. Prep and not killing the truck is the way for 2000. This dude I’m pretty sure is champ for two seasons now on what was a class 7 and all he’s really changed is swapped to coilovers and bypasses vs 3 old 2.0” kurnutt shocks per wheel when he started.

And it’s got a fairly peppy esslinger 2.3l. But it’s certainly not a big dollar truck. All the big power trucks break.

Exactly what I'll be shooting for. Fairly low buck with a good prep and keep the truck alive
