I have a set of d44 bronco hubs and I just realized my wheels are for a 5/8th stud ( yes I know I’m retarded) could I just drill out the hub for 5/8” studs or is there not enough meat left for it to safely run?

The bigger question is how is the wheel machined? If it’s setup for tapered lug nuts you should be able to get 1/2” or 5/8” lug nuts that work. If they’re machined for flat lug nuts those suck and live to come loose.

It’s incredibly easy to do I think I did both hubs in under 4 hours and that was removing and installing hubs

Some of ultra beadlocks

if the hub center bore doesn’t fit tight over your d44 hub those will be problematic. Flat lug nuts require a hub centric wheel. You can see the large flat mark from the flat lug nut rub in the past. Good chance they’re actually setup for old school 11/16 studs too.

I drilled and installed 5/8 studs on my Dana 44 hubs with no issues. I'll grab the part numbers tonight.

I have converted similar wheels by adding the 60 degree chamfer to the wheel and had no issues staying tight. The existing hole centers the bit and the depth really doesn't matter much. Chuck the bit below in a hand drill and go deep enough for your nut to engage.

I was thinking of making some kind of hub bore adapter that makes the wheel slide onto the hub smoothly on my d44’s since the wheels fit the d60 hubs I have in the rear perfect. It looks like d44’s might have different size hub bores so it’s not something readily available.

I had a 5/8” stud laying around and it fits well in it

This sounds like the Desolate concentric hub adaptors. I should have grabbed some of these on the black friday sale.

I had seen those a few days ago and was even thinking just abs / delrin that would press fit over my hubs since I'm mainly concerned with my wheels scraping the hubs during mounting and unmounting. Still have to pick up my hubs from pc to see what diameter they are and if they'd fit those since I think they're off of a K5 instead of a Bronco. Might consider it eventually if the cheaper alternatives aren't easily doable - Innov8 has a 6 lug version on their website for my Chevy / Yota hubs too. They're $239 if you go to Innov8's website, that's a big price increase on Desolate's site.
