56 f100 build Thread

small update, which some may have seen on IG. I built this center console, first time really ever trying to build something like this. The first go around i used too thin of material, so i redid it. Just got it back from being upholstered, and finished up wiring the speakers and usb charger last night. I am running a ghost box blue tooth stereo and amp that is hidden under the rear cup holder.

My mom needs to learn how to do that kind of upholstery so she can wrap my interior panels. That looks awesome. Nice work on the rear radius and such as well.

radius i wasnt sure how to do... so i took some speaker insert MDF that i had bought and cut into quarters and glued together. Worked perfect. lol

Wish i had the skills to wrap this myself.

been a while since i updated this thread. busy with desert season and work.

i installed a restomod ac kit in the truck. I pieced all the parts from different sources as i liked different things about different companies parts. Probably cost more this way, but it is what it is.
Also was my first time doing body work and paint, turned out decent.

Also for the last year or so i have been working on this grill on and off. Its off a 1955, which i love, but they dont make the grilles anymore and they are hard to find. So i bought one with alot more rust then i anticipated. Both headlight buckets were rusted through with giant holes. I found another set, and cleaned them all up. 2nd time doing automotive paint and it turned out pretty rad. Also took the 55 headlight buckets that had bug eyes and recessed the 56 trim rings and headlights.

forgot some info on the ac install. Instead of running a vintage air kit that runs all the lines through the engine bay. I made my own set up that runs the lines inside the inner fenders to keep a cleaner look. Made for a shit ton of fittings, and super fun when my cimper didnt crimp any of them right, so i had to redo the lines twice.

Nice! seems like everyone wants a 56 grille for their 53-55. I want a 54 grille for for my 55.

Its actually a Frankenstein titled as a 55 at one point it did have a 55 grille but we found a was nicer 53 grille and swapped it. My dad had a bunch of them growing up and this one got built from whatever swap meet left overs he had. He put it on a 70s mercury cougar chassis and it was pretty sketchy and half-assed. He had a really cool 56 panel that I went with him to buy at some crazy biker compound in the Palmdale area the they selling it had just got out of prison and was super sketchy. He also got a 53 in Compton that was the grandfather's ranch truck out there before it got all developed. That one became probably the nicest one he ever had. Both went to Japan I think. He died in 2017 and I had to save his truck from the sketchy motel he had been living in.
It sat around for a while through a divorce and other stuff. I eventually got a chassis for it with a scotts hotrods ifs and 4 link. The gutters were completely gone from the cab so I found another cab. I got it put together into a roller and now it sits again under a bunch of shit in my garage while I remodel my house.

The body is pretty beat and I dont have any desire to make it good enough for real paint so it'll probably end up some kind of faux patina. I go back and forth on bagging it or leaving it on coil overs. Im pretty sure the c/os are shot. I just want a good runner with AC and a comfortable interior that I wont jump off a bridge if I get a door ding.

Here's pictures of the hack chassis and it back together on the "new"chassis and where it has sat for the last 5 years.
