Figured I would start a thread on this truck. My father bought it roughly 2 years ago from Nick Cappa. The truck was originally built by John Cappa when he worked for Petersen’s 4wheel and offroad. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/1979-ford-f150-driveline-conversion/

when we bought it it had a hideous dodge fiberglass body. We painted it drove it like that for a year. We sold ot to a guy and ended up having to repo it. This spring we picked up a 79 f150 body and decided it was time to bring the truck back to life.

the truck currently still has a 350 th400 and a atlas2 transfer case. Has a 1/2ton Chevy front axle and a 9” rear. Ox locker out front and Detroit in the rear. I drove this in the Midwest dirt fest this summer and have now taken ownership of it. I’m currently looking for a cheap ls to replace the 350 with. I will try to keep this thread up to date.

Picture will show up in no particular order until I start doing update workIMG_3492.webpIMG_3491.webpIMG_5431.webpIMG_5432.webpIMG_3536.webp

Yes sir. Had a blast with it at dirt fest so I bought it from my dad. Cause I need another pre runner haha.

Shoot I have this one it’s back fixed after dirt fest. Needs more power. lol then I have my bronco. Then my wife says she needs a bronco to lol
Yeah my wife is getting the itch to have her own also. Good and bad LOL

IMG_0086.webpIMG_0087.webpLast night I finished rebuilding the shock mount and added braces so it won’t bend again. I was very tempted to just back half it but I want to keep it drive able until my bronco is done. Maybe back half it after that. I also moved the spare up getting ready to add a second one after my last trip to the dunes next weekend

Added a second spare and a new fuel filler neck. Also braced the box sides on the back. I added a 2-1 steering quickener we will see how it does at the dunes this weekend

Well after the dunes trip and the 350 constantly running like garbage I decided it was time to ls swap it…. So I found a 03 6.0 bought the whole truck for $400 I also picked up a set of coil overs and traling arms for the rear.

Well last week (10-29-24) i decided it was time to pull the 350 out so i could get ready for the ls. My son came out just as i was dragging the cherry picker out and helped me pull it. After we got it out he said why aren’t we putting the new one in now. So we went ahead and installed it. I had it fired up on 11-1-24 and moved it under its own power.

Picked up a set of sandersen headers for $80 new never fired. Guy smacked them with a hammer and they didn’t fit still so he had custom ones made and stuck these on the shelf.
