what happened with the fire? how bad was it and what caused it? always been my worse nightmare.

Fuel line failed and put gas on the headers. Put all three fire extinguishers on it and it still burned for a while. Burnt up all the wiring and plumbing but was able to salvage most of the rest. Taking the opportunity to tear it all down, get everything prepped and powder coated finally, and address some of the minor issues we’ve always had. It’ll be better than before but it’s been down since last August.

glad you guys got it out without a total loss. Are you going to add fire suppression system to it now? I was always too cheap to do it, but would be nice to have in this case. Sucks it was down that long, but will be nice once back up and running.

I had basically the same thing happen with my 89 Toyota out at Pismo. I was just carb so it melted a few things on that and the distributor and all 10 wires the motor needed to run. I dumped 5 extinguishers on it and still was burning so started shoveling sand onto it which got it put out and luckily none got into the motor.
