I plan to eventually do some sort of v8 like that! I like the idea of a 302 haha I was thinking a c6 for durability? I just have to do more research and see what motors are compatible. I also thought about doing explorer swap, don’t those motors have gt40 heads on them?
I’m still using the factory gauges just cause it makes it easy. I’m gonna drill and tap the trans pan for a temp gauge. Yah! I figured it would take 2 spal fans to make it cool properly! I wanna check your truck out up close I know you spent some time dialing in the wiring
This makes sense! I was so reluctant cause this thing is a snail on power. But you know what if driving it on the streets it was getting hot I was thinking in a sand wash this thing is gonna cook. What v8 did you have? And what trans?
The ranger trans I rebuilt has been working great, started driving it more on the streets and quickly realized the 4 row Amazon radiator with the electric fan just isn’t enough cooling for this thing on long up hills. So I did some research and ditched the 19lb cap for the stock 13lb cap to help...
I think I figured out what cause the binding in the trans. The first time I took the truck out the driveshaft was about 1/2” to long and it possibly under full bump crushed that bearing cause it was pushing the tail shaft in.. idk it’s rebuilt and plan to do some street miles and see what it...
I noticed this has a different input shaft than stock. I have another tranny as a donor for parts. I was having engagement issues as well with my torque converter but I got that sorted. I feel like once I fix it this might be some trial and error
Well I managed to screw something up putting this c4 together. The center input shaft slid out about a half inch. So when I finally got it to go in so the torque converter would seat all the way the thrust bearing must of gotten damaged. I bought a book on how to rebuild c4s. I’m not sure if...
Haven’t posted about the truck in a bit. Spent some time dialing in the toe, truck had a bit to much toe in but got that sorted out. Had to shorten my driveshaft another 1/2” cause apparently at full bump you want somewhere in the range of 1/2” 3/4” of more plunge to account for flex and...
Well I’ve been driving the truck for about a week. The brake master cylinder set up I had in there sucked this thing wouldn’t stop. It’s a 2 port single master 1” bore.. anyways par for the course for me I like to learn the hard way lol I started to weigh my options and here’s what I’ve come up...
Yah that’s the plan! I’ve got the material. I’ve also got a marine sending unit off Amazon that I’m gonna incorporate into the cell. Plan is to put the filler neck just above the license plate. I was trying to get it running and going to possibly test it out this weekend but shit isn’t cooperating 😂
Here’s some final details! Fire extinguisher mount, license plate mount, max trac mounts. The truck drove like shit cause it was only running on 5 cylinders so I took apart the plenum and plan to test these injectiors and see what’s going on cause it wasn’t firing on cylinder #1
Haven’t posted in a couple weeks but I’ve been chipping away at getting this thing ready for Presidents’ Day weekend. Stainless hairline for the fuel breather ran, aux beam installed (Chinese switch pros lol) center counsel finalized and mounted. Exhaust all 2.5” stainless, carpet is in as well...
