There was a kit being sold for a while for 1st gen Tacoma/ 3rd gen 4Runner but aren’t available anymore. The OP is military and got stationed overseas so availability ceased. Here’s a link to the kit. Worth a read either way for someone interested in replicating it...
Air in the system is really seeming like the culprit after knowing this vehicle was in the shop last month and the coolant was refilled. If you burp the system, remember to turn on the rear heat on the back of the center console, if yours came with it. Those heater lines could be holding a...
4hi offroad tends to make the auto trans in these vehicles work pretty hard, especially with large tires and soft sand. The trans cooler is built into the radiator, so bypassing it with a standalone one would help with the strain on the cooling system. Also, these vehicles have known issues when...
I have the one you linked first out of the two Borlas, the ProXS. Mine’s the 40665 which looks to be similar sized but is offset not centered. It’s very mellow with the 3.4 V6 and K+N FIPK but I’m not too sure how quiet it would be with your setup. My highway rpms are around 2600 and no drone.
Did one of these runs in 2003 with Jim Ederer @ Protrux in San Marcos. Started and ended at the Lazy Lizard Saloon in Ocotillo. It was a poker run with raffle afterwards and watched whatever the latest Dezert People was at the time inside the bar. It was a good time! Not making this one though...
The key is calling them. I never got my emails returned from any of the yards, ever. I think because they were either too busy or didn’t want to deal with shipping since I also asked about shipping when inquiring about inventory. Once they confirm stock, they email you a form to complete and...
I got some Sequoia front axles for a long travel install on my 3rd gen 4Runner last year and a sun visor a couple months ago. Getting the yard on the phone to confirm stock and condition is a pain in the ass but it’s doable if you’re persistent. Just have to remember which parts of the country...
Those clips remind me of car audio speaker installs lol. I suppose they’d work just fine. I like the pre-tapped tabs with a countersunk bolt. Either one appears to be a decent option. The anti-seize is good tip, noted!
Fox 12” travel x 2.0” diameter remote reservoir smooth body shocks with 5/8” shafts. 31” extended, 19” collapsed. Valving is 30/90 and were on the front of an 80’s straight axle Toyota pickup (so I’m told, I never ran these myself). Shafts are in good shape, straight with no pitting. One...
I have a set of 2. I’ll have to measure when I get home later tonight but I believe they’re +3”. Not in the best cosmetic shape, but they’re cheap. Asking $20 picked up in Oceanside but can ship on your dime. DM me if interested.
Yep, trying to get some form with the function. At least with the upper aluminum skid. The steel lowers are another story.
I like this even better than having the washers. Much more seamless.
What are the best options for the mounting tabs and incorporating a fixed nut and not needing a lock...
Ahh, stringer washers. Those will do fine for the aluminum portion. Thanks for the link.
Allen vs torx is a bit if a toss up it seems. I can see the downsides to both. I wonder if the flush non-button head is a better option for that reason. Since the button head are more likely to get deformed...
