My very VERY budget build of my 2014 Nissan Frontier dub the FronTRD ( pronounced front turd). It all started when I gave up my dreams of opening my own welding business and I took a job at the local tech center as a welding instructor. Bad move but whatever. Decided it was time to sell my single cab Cummins that I had purchased with the intention of turning it into a weld rig. With twin daughter that rode into work with me everyday it was getting rough. So with the little money I had I went on a search for a unit. And the Toyota tax was pretty outrageous so I settled for a $3000 Nissan that had been slightly wrecked and was a breeding ground for dogs. But it was fairly rust free and new for everything in its price range.

Pulled the fender out and through a headlight in it and whooped on it for a while untill I got the Smitty built tent for it

Also scored this soft topper if Craigslist for $300

The rear end hummed like an old lady with Alzheimer’s so I had to do something before it exploded as I had been driving on it for 2 years like that. I had found an old nismo frontier sitting in a yard, and it looked like it had been there for a long time. I knocked on the door and offered them $300 and they took it.

I was able to use the Dana 44 super with an Eaton elocker and 5 nismo wheels off the thing and sold some parts and the rest of the truck for $600. Made out like a bandit on that one.

Can’t have a locker without some lift so I spent just a whisker more then the average New England er and went with the Bilstein 6112 in the front and 5160 ( got these on sale from rock auto) in the rear with Total chaos upper control arms and a CJD shackle hangers in the rear.

At this point I figured I had some remote reservoir’s and a e-locker. I was a dollar store version of a TRD PRO, the truck was always the Front turd. So it was at this point I decided to officially dub it the FronTRD.

Sitting on 33” now.
I think this summer I’ll build some tube bumpers for the truck. And if I have time I’d like to built a flat tray for the truck. I’m in between that or an overland trailer.
