The BRONKY (1994 Bronco)

Since you’re doing all the upgraded steering, Look into the double sheer kit from solo for the sector shaft. Now that some of these trucks are 30yrs old and some with original steering boxes, those start to fatigue and break. I’ve seen it more than once, and twice this year alone. Such cheap piece of mind to help with any steering worries.

I second this.
Here is an example of it on my truck.

Thanks for the advice guys, I’ll order next week. This would be first time I fabricate beyond bumpers/exhaust/misc stuff. What kind of material should I use for the plate, also how thick should it be? All advice is welcome!

Ugggg I'm have Vietnam flashbacks looking at that oil pan gasket picture. That job sucked and I about lit my shit box on fire when the new gasket started leaking right after the test drive.

So your reply scared me and I decided to run the motor today instead of waiting for the replacement steering shaft install tomorrow hahaha(long story on needing a new shaft…..)

A little smoke at first from some oil on headers but overall dialed. Did get a spike in rpm’s at idle but found the loose vacuum line and back to normal. Test drove around 15 miles and pretty good so far. No leaks but we will see if any stains on the driveway overnight. I did install the ambulance steering rods and eyeballed alignment. I did the exact same measurements as my last tie rods, but got a little bit of a toe in on passenger. Not sure why this happened in case any one can chime in.

Alignment tomorrow and I’ll put on replacement steering shaft tomorrow after work! Almost there!

I was able to get the truck aligned at Firestone Thursday during work. The new tie rods made a noticeable difference imo, the ones I had on prior were pretty worn out. After work, was able to get the new steering shaft (I ordered a second one because I am tard and cut first one too short…) and a new fan shroud put on. The fan shroud mounts didn’t line up with the original ones but made it work. Test drive around 8pm and truck felt nice! Not as tight as I thought all the new parts would make it feel. But for sure worth the money and efforts to replace the old parts. BAJA BOUND!

2026 Baja 500 Recap

I ♥️ Baja

Left for Ensenada Friday morning and made it to contingency around 12pm. We normally get to contingency early or late so this was first time we show up mid day and it was pretty packed! We had our two month old daughter so took it easy trying not to go through the crowded areas too much, pretty good time

The goal this year was to to spectate at the beach and stay a little ways away from the course for the sake of our daughter. We usually go to Erendira but Instagram influenced me to want to go to Colonet so further South we went! iPad showing the traffic jam because of the checkpoint.

Found our spot close to RM170, the mountain overlook I originally wanted to set up had a lot of people so we chose a nice beach spot away from people.

Always risk my phone for the videos so set it up on the side of the course and got this pic of Tavo Sr

Racing is always awesome, but found myself exploring the beachside for a little while too. Baja is absolutely beautiful, can’t wait to keep visiting new spots and seeing more and more. Will be cool when my daughter is older and she can go out and explore these little areas

Posted up getting shrimp tacos. Eating tacos and seeing your truck parked right out front is amazing

Back in America! 470 mile trip without breaking out the tool bag, so would say it was a pretty good trip. Stopped at a store in Rosarito and noticed a small coolant leak. Had my brother in law drive in front of me while we crossed border in case we had to wait for a long time and truck overheated, but luckily didn’t need that tow. When we stopped for gas, noticed the radiator cap had just shaken off a little. Tightened up and no more leak.

Every trip always teaches us something new, and aside from continuing to do maintenance on this 33 year old truck, we need starlink lol. If anyone has recommendations for a magnetic starlink mount, let me know!

this is the epitome (not sure if correct word, but soounds correct?) of a BLGT ride. clean, stockish LOOKING Bronco, thet gets used exactly as it should be. not 69 thousand dollhairs into it. not crazy wazoo built. just fucking mildly and cleanly built Bronco that gets dirt miles done in.

FUCK YES, MAN!
Thanks!! It would be awesome to have cho beams, spring under leafs, and big shocks all around but I’m just enjoying the truck in each phase and making sure it stays running consistently. I also have a Ranger that I’ve been building since I was in highschool but the fire on that one has been dwindling out. I still work on it but it feels like I’m chasing the feeling of being 16 and modifying trucks and ripping around with my friends again. I know I won’t be able to replicate the feeling again, but chasing it by building trucks we could’ve only dreamed of having as kids. Kinda side tangent but maybe someone on here will be able to relate, idk

I think the majority of the people on this forum can relate. 🤘🏻
We used to go rip around the hills at 16 years old, then try to sneak back in without waking up our parents. we do the same at 33 we just have to sneak in without waking up our wives and kids 😂

Very cool trip, getting down to Baja in the bronco is on the bucket list forsure.

I’ve had my ranger for 16 years. I had other prerunners prior. I started with it when I was 21 and it’s all I wanted for years and years. Sleepless night, long trips for parts, doing it all wrong was awesome!

Now that I’m 36 and I have had it for so long, I actually just look at it in my garage and it brings ZERO joy to me. The fire is barely smoldering for me at this point with my truck and I don’t think it’s gonna re ignite anytime soon. The amount of joy I get out of my 1,000$ explorer FAR outweighs the prerunner joy. I wanna get down to Mexico bad! I haven’t been in probably 20 years

Lets go to mexico

I have a Giant 64" kit for sale everything complete with 1 season on it if you're interested in that spring under life.
My fun money budget for bronco is kinda low at the moment lol…HOW MUCH?!?!

Lets go to mexico
BLGT Mexico trip! I’m going to the 400 in September and the past few years there’s been this really sick jump that all the cars and trucks launch off of that I’ve been wanting to camp out at.

Score only makes the 400 go through that section so would be cool to get some rigs out there this year!
