i have a 1996 ranger ext cab and was wondering what the benefits are to swapping an explorer axle and keeping the spring under configuration (i’m currently on deavers and bilstiens) and how i could combat the drop in body height from going to spring under

I love the explorer brakes on my truck. So much better.

"and keeping the spring under configuration".
--- Using what leafs?

"combat the drop in body height from going to spring under".
--- Use your current leafs and weld on or have perches welded on...I am assuming you have a spring over setup now.

The axle is wider, the tubes are bigger & the later ones had disk brakes. The Explore frame is wider than the Ranger so I don't think the spring pads will work
explorer frames are wider but their springs are under the frame, not outboard. Spring pads will work if hes using a Giant 64 kit, any other spring he will want to keep it spring over and weld new perches on there.

i’m currently running deavers with a blitzkrieg motorsports flip kit

Swapping to spring under will give you way better springs because they have more arch. With more arch you can c notch your frame for more uptravel with the same ride height you have now and less negative arch on the leafs.

To swap to spring under you will need new a leaf spring pack designed for a spring under application. If you have spring over deavers right now they will not work in a spring under configuration.
The giant link killer kit would be my choice

Oh, If you plan to keep the F31s then go with @2004xlmiller recommendation and weld on the perches.

If you want to upgrade to spring under then @marcytech gave the right recommendation.

If you need help welding on the perches bring the rear end and perches to me with the right angle and widths marked (perch location marked on the rear end tubes) and I will burn them in for ya for free.99. Just give me a day.
