This awesome event is put on by Cal4wheel Association with assistance of local off-road clubs. It’s scheduled for Friday November 7th to Sunday November 9th and located in the Panamint Valley just north of Trona California is, which is rich in history, mines, trails and bitchen views.

There are runs you can participate in with stock 4WD/built2wd to full on crawlers. There are good rock crawler trails and more mild scenic routes exploring the western Death Valley to mines, cabins and ghost towns, including Barker Ranch where Charles Manson was apprehended.

Also, if you’re into overlanding, there’s a bonus run called “Escape From Death Valley” that starts two days earlier than the event and takes you from the western edge of Nevada and follows the original route of the Bennett-Arcane Party that got stuck in Death Valley trying to get to California’s Gold Rush.
This guided run is full of sites and history of Death Valley and ends at the Panamint Valley Days event. Spaces are limited on this run, so sign up quick. But don’t worry if you can’t get a spot, there are still tons of other runs exploring the area.

We’re looking to make this year’s event the biggest yet with a wide variety of runs, raffles, games, prizes and vendors.

If you’ve been in this area before, you know how cool the terrain and sites are. If you haven’t, you need to come check it out. It’s absolutely worth the trip.

I always loved going to this event as a kid! Such an awesome area to explore and I was lucky enough to run some of the good trails before they were closed like stone canyon, surprise canyon, and happy canyon

Aw man!!! You got to run Surprise Canyon!!
I’m so jealous! Looks so cool on the videos. Heard of Happy Canyon but don’t know anything about it.
Never heard of Stone Canyon.

We have gone with the official event and also been out there at the same time running our own stuff. Cal4Wheel puts on a good event and raffle. The trails are mild to wild. I did South Park Loop counter clock wise with Cal4Wheel in the Megacab and a few other fullsizes. We had to convince the trail leader that we will be fine getting through. 😀

And for anyone who cares, counter clockwise is way better than clockwise on the south park loop in a full size. coming down the shelf road from chicken rock sucks not being able to see the cliff edge over the hood. 😳

I'm highly considering this. I really want to do SierraTrek next summer and I think this trip would be a good trial for that? I would want to do this as a family trip with my wife and 3 kids ages 5,8,10, what are your thoughts? My ride would be a straight axle GMC Sonoma crew cab with 35s locked front and back.
