Cashier: "what kind of vehicle is this for?"

Me: "2000 Ford Ranger"

Cashier: "What motor?"

Me: "2.5L"

Cashier: "....Uhh, that motor didnt come in this year truck, did you mean a 2.3L"

Me: "No, its a 2.5L"

Cashier: "hmmm...are you sure"

Me: "Yes"

Cashier: "Did you say 2004 Ranger?"

Me: "......"

Decided to create a build thread of my 2000 Ford Ranger. Unlike my BRONKY build thread, i wont go crazy tracking down pics because...thats alot of work. Bought this truck stock in high school, CIrca 2017.IMG_C4A259DA8D54-1.jpeg

Originally, I was going to lower it and build a mini truck...Id say thank god i didnt, but it probably wouldve been alot cheaper.

Again, not going to go crazy looking for all my old pictures of the whole process (unless someone asks me to, then i absolutely will). As it sits today, i have a 5.5" over front BRS kit, single 2.5x10" coilover, Chromoly interior cage that is tied to rear bedcage. 2.5x14" tripple bypasses in the rear. 35x1.5r15 AT3's on AR23's. ADV glass front and rear. Recently got the Ensenada paint job special (its brown, not black). China Designs LED pods. Everything about it says budget, and to be fair it does well considering it is still leaf sprung and motor is a 2.5L...Ahh, the motor....

The 2.5L that is currently in the truck has rod knock. Ill probably run it in the desert until it blows, but the purpose of this thread was to document future progress, but also to make me follow through with my word that ill put a 4.0 SOHC V6 (or big V8 if i go full autism). If anyone has any leads on a 4.0SOHC for sale, and more info on the swap it would be awesome.

"YoU KnoW ThERe'S a SeArCh BAr RiGHt?"

Yes i know, I will be doing my fair bit of research, but pretty much if anyone is local to VC or North County in general and wants to help me with this in exchange for raunchy stories and some beer, the offer is there :D

Whenever i go to any auto parts store, and tell them what i need they always ask for the year, make and model. This is pretty typical for your normal oriellys, vatozone, advanced autoparts etc.

When i say "a 2000 Ford Ranger" 96% of the time they hear "a 2004 Ranger". The whole motor thing is because 2004 ranger's did not come with a 2.5L 4 cyclinder. Pretty much its a slight annoyance you deal with at most autoparts stores when you own a 2000 Ford.

It's much easier to just say the year of vehicle the motor is from. I don't say that I need plugs for a 2002 GMC Sonoma - I say I need pluggs for a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Are the bejing design lights any good?
I want to say i paid like $60-$70 per light, and for that price they are pretty decent. For sure better than some of the other chin chin light bars ive gotten.

My buddy just got some of the new HF pods and put them on his golf cart and they were tits. Might be worth checking out.
