Just trying to get to the bottom of this mystery. Where can I get a Alloy Armor SDS?

Yes we just did my suspension in it. It’s the same and if it just happens not to be, the Seymour has such minuscule difference. I got like 12 cans online for like $100 shipped? Lol. And it’s at autozone too

You did the suspension in Alloy Armor or Seymour?

With the cost of Krylon professional creeping up I tried Seymour 316L and was thoroughly impressed. Sprayed out smooth, went on thick, and didn't run. Retail of $13 but regularly on Amazon for less. Impressed me enough to want to try their MRO paint on axles I want black.

The Alloy Armor art is cool, but not $7 cool.

Not sure about the Alloy Armor vs Seymour. I do know Nick ( Loose and Lost) and Michael Cox are good dudes. Alloy Armor is their company. I'd rather support a few buddies and spend a couple bucks more personally. 🤷‍♂️
It’s easily double the price, without shipping. Them trying to pass it off as something it isn’t is lame. Makes me not want to buy anymore loose and lost stuff lol

Haven't personally done a deep dive on the weldable paint and the ins and outs of the different brand.

Until this thread I've never even heard of Seymour. I've only heard of Steel it which goes for a cool $37 a can? the Seymour is showing $14 a can for a 12 oz can.

If it is indeed exactly the same...

Buying from Amazon, JBtools thats blowing out cans after buying a truck load of paint selling them for $8.62 until they run out. vs Some dudes that are active within our space both prerunner/racing scene and rock crawling scene. Coming up with marketing, branding, art work, paying for insurance, labeling, distribution, etc. and charging 5 bucks more a can than the manufacturers retail price?

Yea I guess I am okay with that. I want people I know with small businesses and family's to win.

Steel-it is a bit of a different animal as it's a polyurethane vs acrylic lacquer of Seymour. Leads to a harder surface that should more UV stable and impact resistant, hence the price difference. Unfortunately they also added Chromium which is banned on most federal facilities and not a great heavy metal to inhale regularly.

My steel-it knuckles also rusted with the truck only in my shop even after getting them sand blasted and shot with 3 good coats on them. That was in 2021 back when gallons of steel-it was cheap and sprayed with harbor freight spray gun.

I have only used steel-it so can't speak to the other two paints but so far I am not that happy with steel it for the longevity of a coating. It is not that uv resistant. The gray on My back half started to rust throught after applying it correctly so not that impressed. The black is a little better. They all suck to weld through so that is a useless argument. I still clean it off if I need to weld.
Pros- it covers really nice and blends when u need to recoat or make a repair. Pretty seamless.
So far I would use a single stage car paint. We used a single stage car paint on the wife truck cab cage in 2013 and back half in 2016 ish and it still looks new! Has tons of dirt miles and very little rock chips. I did use an epoxy primer.
Cons- not easy to blend or make changes / repairs. Can do a solvent blend if needed.

Just some 2 cents from all the years of using many different coating. I hate painting so not something I want to do all the time.

I do plan to give the alloy armor a try in the future for small parts. Will check back when I do.

I will never use steel it again. It fades really fast and the skid plate for my badlands jack started to bubble after less than a year of being sprayed. Plus it’s way over priced and usually only get to use half a can before it stops spraying.

Seymour paint on sale here.

Just did all my bronco suspension in Seymour. It sprays on really nice and dries to a very consistent smooth finish. No runs or drips. Also you can get through the entire can without it clogging or running down the side of the can like steel it. Paid 8 bucks a can at JB. So far i'm a fan.

Side note I had 3/4 of a can of steel it left so I decided to do a removable cross member in it. Got about 10 seconds into the can and it clogged!! To be fair the can has been sitting on my shelf for about a year.

I genuinely don't understand the fascination with steelit/seymour/alcoholics anonymous... ermm I mean alloy armor. I guess it looks good for rusted out shock bodies, but the cost:value ratio is wayyyyy off.
