Checking in from an island in WA. Grew up a desert rat from So Cal. Have built and owned prerunners, 4x4, quads, bikes and rails. Now I chase peace, quiet, long trails, beaches and epic views in the PNW.
I have a VW addiction and have built out a 2012 TDI Touareg as my primary adventure rig. I've got almost everything I can put on it. It is a fantastic platform and I've been surprised how much abuse it can take while delivering luxury, mpg and towing.
I'm now focused on building my 1987 Toyota pickup 4x4 Extra cab for more difficult trails. My father in law gave it to me about 4 years ago and it was a mess. It's got 290,000 miles and has been in my wife's family since new. I've been working on restoring it mechanically and cosmetically. I've recently picked up 4.88s with Spartan lockers and a bunch of steering and suspension rebuild parts. The goal is to get it out more and start using it as my primary camp/trail rig. End goal is an early 90's Cali Desert prelander style build with 35's, long travel front and deavers in the rear.
