What are some of your coolest/ strangest finds out in the wilderness? From Animals, Creepy mines, etc

I have a few but this is one of my favorites..

We are blasting through this uncharted desert @sdecurti is leading I'm maybe 10 car lengths back. not super close but closer than normal due to the no dust. All of a sudden outta nowhere he slams on the brakes! and yells STOPPPPPPPP! for the second time today I dump the brakes and pitch the truck sideways and swerve off the trail so I don't plow into the back of him!

I'm like dude! wtf ! what ?
He's like dude get and out and come look!

Seriously so damn cool! I've always wanted to see one and in the short time I've been in to this whole desert game since 2006 never seen one.
Seen plenty of tarantulas, scorpions, Fox, Coyotes, Burros, Deer, Big horn Sheep, Rabbits, lizards, snakes, but nooo tortoises!

Needless to say, @sdecurti and I were stoked!

SO RAD! Still stoked about that....

We said our farewell to our hard-shelled friends and pressed on.

Racing in Johnson valley last year for checkers mc dual euro I came across a tortoise crossing the course, thought it was a rock moving uphill. I stopped so no one would run it over, then helped it continue in its way, was stuck in the single track. Ended up losing 3 positions but caught them back and made the passes. Wish I had a GoPro to get some type of video or pics.

Dude! I spotted one of those turtles while jamming up to the rock pile from the lakebed. I thought it was just a huge rock in the two track until we got closer and realized it was moving. With a bunch of other trucks following us i carefully picked the heavy guy up and carried him 50 ft off course. Maybe i shouldn’t have? I don’t know but i didn’t want to see him get hit. Definitely a cool experience.

I’ve also seen an ostrich farm in the middle of the desert in Barstow as well as a herd of sheep.. also in Barstow. That’s a weird place for sure haha

So funny, couple months ago after the trans axel duel in Lucerne we were coming down from the watering hole and damn near rear ended my buddy for the exact same reason lol.

same thing happened to us in the wash on the way to slash X. Buddy swerved to miss it and his tire track actually pushed the dirt up under the tortoise he came so close, i almost hit him and had to jump into the bushes along with the 4 trucks behind us. Was rad to finally see one in the desert.

Had a desert fox in lucerne steal our bbq sauce mop brush off the trailer while we were sitting at camp... that was pretty cool to see.

At my races we are told you can move them off course. Just keep them in the same direction they were going, if they pee give them some water.

Oh our ghost springs 500 Trip through Nevada. We stopped off at a hot spring somewhere outside of Austin.

Came across this dead cow on the lake bed. Not that wild considering there is cattle in the area..

wtf ??
😐

not sure if it was some kind of sacrifice zone or strung up as bate?

Either way, this was pretty bizarre. The place definitely had a bad vibe to it.

There are lots of cool abandoned things up in the Texas Panhandle around Boger that you used to be able to get up to. Lots of old indian ruins, old company towns, abandoned oil stuff. Most of it has been gated off in the last 20 years though. The Plemons Bridge was neat and covered on every surface on graffiti but I can't find pics of it anymore.
