Does anyone ever go to baja just to spectate / have fun with a crew of friends anymore? I have not been to baja for a race in 10+ years probably. If you do go down there where do you stay / spectate from?

Gregg

@Bajadog Goes down every year

A few other forum members go down pretty regularly. I'd love to go one of these years seems like there is always something that comes up

I'd honestly love to get another chance to help pit and chance the race.

Covid shutdown that opportunity to help pit a class 10 team in 2020 due to Canada's authoritarian lockdowns.

I’ve been down four times this year, I’ll help out with PCI weatherman relay and possibly do a couple visual pits to help out some teams.
A little hard to get into where I’m located.
Oddly I think there’s another member that goes down often… @Camp4lo Baja Expositions
I saw his stickers quite often, once in middle of nowhere.
I’m in Erendira, so there’s plenty spots to watch, especially nice is the high speed beach section.
No hotels, but some airbnbs and fish cabins.

My buddy has a house in erendira somewhere been there once. Done alot of spectating across Baja. Just haven’t been down in 10 years. Friends and and I spoke yesterday about making it a priority to get down there next 1000.

Used to spend a lot of time in San Felipe and in percebu. But times have changed and people don’t have their places there anymore so we’re gonna try to figure some shit out
over th next months!

Yes, run some dirt for fun, Tech is fun time, hit up some great food, do some drinking, $5. gets you into Nelson Ranch to see all the big jumps at the start then run down one of the highways to see more action, then head home.

Next year is in Cabo... So plan early haha.

I go there for work but actually spent an extra day down there to Spectate the race and host a few clients/employee's I work with.

We stayed out of town at a smaller hotel. I liked that it was away from the hustle of the city life in Ensenada. Maybe it's just because I like to go to bed before 10pm haha.

Lastly - watching the race is probably best on the San Felipe side... There are just too many people in the big city of Ensenada so we spent a lot of the day sitting in traffic trying to watch the race from 2 locations. (Wash and Uruapan).

Watching any offroad race is hard, but it's so fun to show up and chill with good people. Its a good way to do nothing all day and eat good food.

So many familiar faces Geoff haha. Rays house was always the best too! Those were the days!

Who’s your friend down in Erendira?
We all have a guy there, well he’s in San Felipe now, we call him 3G, another Gregg I believe.
Next years Baja 1000, my guess is that it will not go further north than San Ignacio.

Troy, Is the sons name. He does something with the parkhouse class 1 crew. i forget his dads name. Their house is north of where the rocky area is as the course starts to get into the dirt roads along the coast. we have driven that road north to santo tomas. Like i said though i have only been there once.

Some of my friend groups buddies / high school friends used to own the bar at rancho percebu and did the consuela bowls so we spent alot of time in SF for races and poker runs but this was 15 years ago easily. sounds like alot sold or moved away after COVID.
