Thought it would be cool to keep track of my rig builds on here and might incentivize me to actually take pictures of my vehicles.
1991 FJ80 Landcruiser
I have always loved the 80 series Landcruiser's and finally picked one up last year when I decided to get rid of my 2021 Ranger. The Ranger was giving me all kinds of electrical issues and Ford kept telling me to kick rocks when I tried to get them to honor my warranty, so I sold it back to them and, used the equity to buy the 80.
I picked up the 80 with 280k miles on it with a ton of work done in the last 25k miles including full head rebuild, new cooling system, new alternator, new starter, and a few other things. Other than maintenance and a sweet custom bumper the dude I bought it off of built, it was bone stock.
The plan was to fix it up and make it a good driver and wheeler so I can get out on the trail while my FJ40 snowballed into a mess. It has a 3FE with a whopping 155HP, a 4 speed auto, and full time 4wd with high and low range. Initial gameplan was skid plates, sliders, coils, shocks, 35's, and gears. End goal is a mild looking truck that is reliable on trails like Coyote lake, John bull, Rubicon (slowly).

First trip in it up to Santa Cruz and the thing drove great.
I knocked out some more maintenance items making sure it was road worthy before I started modding stuff. Full tune up, power steering pump and lines, all new soft brake lines, and oil pan gasket.

Didnt realize you had to undo the mounts on the radiator and lift it a few inches to get the power steering hardlines out till it was too late.
Its been through a few sets of tires since I picked it up. The 31's it came with were dry rotted and 10yrs old so they got replaced with some 285's on 17's to make room for future brake upgrades.

I went on a bunch of trips with it in this mode.

Buck rock jeep trail in Sequoia NF

Camping on the coast.

Eastern Sierra.
During this time I did full belly skid plates, shocks, and new beefier steering links. (I'll get some pictures of that stuff when ever it quits raining here)

At some point during a Sierra trip the brake pad pin clips broke and the pins tried to eject themselves. Perfect excuse to upgrade the brakes to new FZJ80 rotors and calipers.

Fj vs FZJ rotors.

I ended up doing 2" lift coils and started messing around with tire sizes. I tried the 37's I have for the FJ40. As cool as they looked it was too much tire and Im not quit ready to take a sawzall to the body yet. I ended up picking up some 35's and they seem to be the goldilocks size for the trucks current setups.

37's

Happy on 35's.
I have rock sliders I put together for it that I gotta find time to weld on and Tcase high range underdrive gears to help get the gearing happier till I can do 3rd member's. Future plans bumpers, winch, lockers, and wheeling it as much as possible.
