Apples to oranges forsure… a full size f150 would need built parts where I was able to go oem for lots of things, but i just d44 ttb swapped my XJ for $6k ALL IN (~$4k after selling the solid axle stuff) with working 4wd. Pretty much sourced everything big off marketplace and I also did all the...
Trip & Damage report
Overall this thing fucking killed it. Drove the piss out of it day and night and only had some minor issues that were easy fixes. Stock 3.55 gearing wasn’t ideal but it still felt good on power. But I’m on the hunt for a complete 9” and d44 diff that have 4.10 or 4.56...
Patience young one 😘
Just unloaded out at Cinders. Did a quick bolt check, adjusted the crossover nuts and smashed some whoops. Felt realllly good. Rear end is definitely the limiting factor. Family ride tonight then will find a jump tomorrow 😀
View from camp was top tier. Another 40 ish miles done yesterday. No big issues so far, just minor brake stuff. Really happy with the steering so far. It doesn’t do anything weird or have too much play and has stayed aligned.
Just got to Sedona and gonna go run Broken Arrow for sunset...
Aaaaaaand straight to a week long camp trip 🍻 Camping up on the Mogollon Rim for two nights, then Sedona, then Cinder Hills for the weekend. Excited to give this thing a shakedown in the cinders and hopefully smash some whoops
Put about 40 miles on it today. Easy fireroads at slow speeds but...
Shes a runner. May lower the front a tad. List is getting really short; just have to change out the driveshaft u joint to a 1330, bleed the brakes, and fill the diff up.
As for 4wd, everything cycles good! I had to cut off about an inch of the slip yoke shaft because it was bottoming out at...
Well I successfully built from scratch the worst type of ttb steering 🤣 I’m beat and my brain is fried. I was hoping stock bronco steering would work but all the bends were in the wrong places so I decided to build my own. Obviously ambulance style steering isn’t ideal I’ll end up changing this...
There isn’t any room to do any sort of bracing on the left side of the crossmember with the 3rd and driveshaft installed. That right hand beam pivot is fully boxed and triangulated though. Still I am doing pretty much exactly that on the right side which will eliminate any rearward flex. The...
I did mine slightly different than yours I think. I kept it flat on the back side edge of the beam and then bent it inwards on the last couple inches. Yours looks straight the whole way and somewhat diagonal to the back side edge
