The only problem I've ran into with the vertical version is space issues and not being able to get the leverage. Contrary, the rivet gun shaped version is usually pretty good for me (but having broke my hand twice, it can be a bit much). All that said, I prefer to use the ones from Mcmaster...

Solid move on opting out of the setscrew option...seen many of them work their way out and the RTT mounted atop is what's holding it all together and square.
