Since my last post I’ve had the car out a few times.
First go around was a day trip and the car did okay minor clutch adjustments and did like 60 miles. Got stuck in the sand
Second trip the fuel cell foam went bad and I was fighting fuel starving the whole time plus rich jetting. Shocks over...
Seems like all my photos broke.
I don’t have 220 volt for my welder at the house setup yet so I towed the car to a buddies shop and put a day in.
Engine cage done,
Exhaust done
Moved the drivers seat down a bit
carb has a 4k rpm stumble seams lean a lower vaccum power valve helped need to...
Got the radiator lines in. Ended up finding some basically 1.25 inch heater hose hose and used couple hard 90s for turns.
wired up the ignition the 6a box that came with the motor was no good. Found a points distributor on rock auto. Figured if they go bad I could throw a pertronix module in it...
Still trying to figure out direction with the coolant lines.
I could build hard lines out of aluminum u bends
Or I could do more of a miter setup but that won’t flow as well
I could run silicon 1.25 heater hose but that’s not cheap.
Mental math is close to 20 ft but I’ll do some measurements...
moving forward onto radiator mounting.
Was looking into behind the motor like vertical on the engine cage.
Seemed okay but then I noticed some tubes that run the length of the tunnel looks like they used to be coolant lines.
They are cut at a weird angle anyone have a fix for this? Any maybe...
Got the ford 2.3l mounted.
Stage 1 Kennedy pressure plate with a stock disk.
Turned some 1inch .250 wall for a solid mount style bushing.
Done on a lil craftsman lathe.
Wasn’t too happy with doing chromoly.
I need to make a more rigid tool holder setup. Cutters always walk off center.
Getting a...
Originally joined to hopefully get some inspiration to work on my F100.<<<click link<<<< That didn't really happen and I felt like it needed too much work to work properly. The whole truck was kinda thrown together out of whatever parts I could scrounge up and that created a pretty unreliable...
Sold it to a dude up in Lompoc. Came to the conclusion I was gonna have to redo the whole truck to be where I wanted it but it worked fine If i didn't run it so hard. Swapped for a Baja bug. I occasionally get a call from the guy having issues with the holey sniper (big surprise).
If I did it...
Also got a few better pics of the front suspension.
Rewelded the motor mount
Motor mount had cracked at the top and the bottom of the welds.
Pushed it back to where it was and rewelded it
Added some triangle gussets up top.
Still not super satisfied might pull the motor and redo it.
Front...
Finally remembered to take some pics of the rear suspension
It’s a 2x2 .188 wall tube that has a pushrod
At the end of it that makes it drop or compress with the axle.
The upper shock mount is mounted to this tube to give it a better motion ratio.
As the wheels drop so does the upper shock...
Got the truck out for thanksgiving.
Overall pretty good
Got about 13mpg on the way out 80 miles approx 6 gallons. Loaded with 3 dirt bikes out I8 to ocotillo.
Having a locked rear end plus the v8 really improved drive ability in washes.
Razor chop was really bad. Truck does the best in small...
oo interesting didnt think of off the side like that.
I was thinking about how to protect the rear derailleur and I had an idea of using something like this
mounted to the track system (Nissan had tracks on the floor also) to keep the derailleur off the ground
Yeah my biggest concern is the derailer getting bent with the back wheel off.
Thats why i was considering a small standoff to grab the rear axle.
Ill have to look more to see if its practical.
I have a hitch mount one that grabs the toptube but the mtb top tubes are too big a diameter i...
