Well since I replaced the injectors and the exhaust down stream of the cat, my fuel mileage went to shit. I’m now getting around 11mpg. I suspect that the problem is the leaking gasket at the collector where the O2 sensor is. I’m going to try to replace it tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem.
Since the last post, I have been driving the hell outta the truck. A couple of the injectors started sticking again and the fuel mileage dropped off again. I tried two cans of sea foam and then two cans of Berryman’s injector cleaner. Nothin worked. So I pulled the intake and replaced all 3...
So after a long drive over the Sierras and back to the desert I recalculated my mpg’s. The truck got 17.9 mpg! That’s the best it’s ever been and that’s with the 33x12.5 patagonia milestars. It would do even better with the set of all terrains and the aluminum rims. I was getting like 3 mpg...
Yesterday I cleaned the injectors and installed new upper intake gaskets. I went through all of my spare injectors and cleaned them too just because I hadn’t cleaned them yet.
This morning I checked my fuel mileage and to my surprise I gained 3- 1/4 MPG! With the 33’s I’m now getting 17- 1/4...
I fucked up and bought the wrong injectors. I’m not sure what they’re to, I haven’t cross referenced the part number since I realized it.
I also think I might have had a lower intake gasket leak. When I pulled the upper intake studs they were borderline loose. I’m not sure why. Maybe it was...
I’m gonna replace the injectors today. It’s been doing this weird hard to start thing some mornings and then others it fires right up. The injectors are the only thing that I haven’t replaced yet in the fuel system. I guess it could be a bad regulator but I figured I’d replace the injectors...
I decided to modify my dog box this week. I added the tool box, aluminum plate to the front of the sides and put a new divider in. It cleaned it up a lot and gave the dogs a bunch more room to lay down.
Went hunting yesterday, hunted new country. We didn’t find a lion but we had a good time. I found where a lion stays sometimes, in a mine shaft and left a bunch of scat though. Found someone’s bumper too lol.
I finally wired up the gang switch and threw some chincy labels on. The kids will probably pick them off the first time they go hunting with me again lol. But maybe it’ll give me enough time to memorize them before they do. Also added 2- double port USB chargers.
Also finally broke the spare...
Sorry I missed your post. It was a bad alternator. Not sure if it was the brushes or regulator. But I just swapped it out for another used one I had and it’s been running good since. I’m gonna rebuild the old one when I remember to find out the make and model to order the kit for.
These are from just this past winter. I have had many more instances where I didn’t take pictures. I like to say screw it and keep going when the conditions suck.
Sounds like the “killer dowel pin” got you. Sometimes it will fall out when driving but ends up in the oil pan without any damage. Other times it’ll do what you have experienced.
I had thought about this some before I bought a house with a jacuzzi. But if a guy had a smudge pot, he could put the coils around the chimney pipe of it, with a cheap 12 v pump or a 120v pump to circulate and have warm jets in the trough.
