I will say if you have thoughts of a 4 link in the future it would be wise to get a 9 inch over a 8.8 for the aftermarket support. diy offroad has files for all the link tabs and truss for a 9"
8.8" or 9" from a 80-96 f150 seems to be the go-to. 61" from face to face i believe, not sure exactly how much width you'd gain but it would be a good amount wider than a stock ranger axle.
mostly just thinking in terms of stuff i have= no money spent. but I didn't think about just doing new tubes/ends. your saying cut the housing so there's say 4" of factory tube at ".???" thickness, machine the new .250 tubes to slip inside of the factory tubes? am I understanding that right? I'm...
Wanted to hear some thoughts on widening a ford 9inch, kinda serious kinda just a thought exercise. I have a handful of truck housings laying around to try this with so id be out nothing but time if it didn't work.
My thought was take housing "A" and cut it somewhere on the tubes. Take housing...
Hard lesson learned lol, transmission is getting repaired and fixed yoke conversion done. Been trying to find a good slip portion, I found one that's 10.5 of slip but it's on ebay and I'm a little leery of it. Not really sure where to find good quality driveshaft parts like that.
Update i have the fixed yoke parts.
I usually build my own driveshafts and just take them to get balanced. If I'm going to build a slip driveshaft where is a good place to but the parts, never had to build a slip style so im a little lost as to where source the correct stuff
Update. Stopped by my friends dads house to ask him about rebuilding my transmission or buying another one from him, he said he has few fixed yoke c6 set ups he's beens sitting on for close to 30 years and he's just giving me one.
I forgot to add it in my post bit there is a c6 local to me with a fixed yoke tail housing. Trans wouldn't work in my truck (it's a big block trans) but I could rob the parts off it. $150
Not so much a trip but a event. Took my truck the first time ever to midwest dirtfest, I wasn't ready and the truck definitely wasn't ready but I had to make it this year. Ive had alot of people around me pass away the last 4 months and it made me realize that tomorrow isn't promised and if I...
Took the truck out for its first flight test last weekend and stuffed the slipyoke into the back of my trans and broke something in the transmission. I'm assuming I made the mistake of only checking plunge at bump, ride height and droop. And somewhere in the cycle I have more then the 1" of...
Those seem to be correct size, I guess im more trying to determine if that large oring (seems to be standard in all the seal kits for the 2.5 ifp) is the standard size and my ifp is just different for whatever reason. If I can get the groove measurements from a standard ifp I'll just throw my...
