Rear bumper dialed for now, 2x4 layed flat i cut out some end caps then bent 1.5 tubing to run up to the fender well. Two 2x3 1/4" box bolted outside of the frame rail secures bumper and provided the surface for welding supports to the bent round tube.
I don't really have anything specific in mind, more or less just opening conversation considering any aspect. My experience has mostly been leaning on the light wieght rock crawling mini truck side. A couple of build pictures on here have kind of continued my interest in leaf spring geometry...
Ive seen alot of funky shackle set ups over the years from stock ford or xj one piece spring shackles, teraflex shackles, three piece plate style with a tube bolted in the center or even old school double shackle. I'm curious on what everyone's current opinion is on this all around, stability...
Rear shock location. I'm getting a little experimental on shock packaging, with expectations of having to change it later. I really curious what outcome I will get with wheel hop, axel wrap ect. Worst case I can mount them off of the rear of the axle. But currently they're mounted to the front...
Front cage fitment is great. Bent 1.75 tube to match the b-pillar hoop which is now the main front hoop for the bed roll cage. This hoop is now tied into the frame just outside of the the front bed mounts. Width lined out perfect to clear. Having the separate cage in the bed will leave a good...
This week, I started building tunnel/shift linkage cover.
- The 4x innovations cage arrived this Friday. A little time checking fitment today. So far i think it's going to work out great.
- Last I figured out lower shock placement on the front axle. Running a ford style shock tower up top to...
I'm planning on running 5.29s and 37s. Keeping the stock 22r and forced to keep it smog legal. I'm 50 miles from the rubicon and this truck will driven all over mountain roads so gearing for the significant lack of horsepower is ideal.
The two outside sticks run back with linkage to operate the shifter rods in the rear case, it basically adds more moving parts to do the same same job a single shifter could have done with a j pattern. A major benefit to the set up is potentially being able to run a bench seat, also in my case...
Sunday update- Transmission and t-cases went in and out close to to 10 times trying to get the shifter holes dialed in. Triple stick linkage clears the transmission tunnel. I had to cut a little more out of the tunnel than I wanted, but the alternative would have been a lower hanging skid plate...
I had issues on the green truck in past with straight shackles contactacting the frame rail and rear section of the body mount, at full stuff. The boomerang shape seemed to remedy that and 10+ years on those seemed to work out pretty well so I decided to stick with it. I may end up making some...
