Short answere. Start with a standard 4x frame and use zr2 parts. Chances truck is going 2wd but a very similar front end is on mine. I build front wnds for these trucks. Don't want to muddy up chances thread so go look at my thread and or dm me on Instagram @danielson.92 I'd be happy to share...
Not tryna hijack the thread, but sas s10 are for the boys that really want to get down in the rocks
I love the s10 platform as long as its a 4x4 frame. S10 get a bad wrap cause the 2wd frame is a g body car frame and 100% crap for offroad.but the motor is super strong. Trans ok behind that...
Okay got some stuff done the last few months. I'm down to all the small shit that takes forever. Frint end is painted, aligned and mostly final bolted in. Motors in trans is in diff is in motor harness is mostly complete. Just have to final the starting/charging circuits (this is ignoring cab...
Been a while. Life is busy. Front end is getting close. Sheet metal for the firewall is in and mostly welded. Spent my Saturday doing some of the small bullshit that doesn't make a big intact but needs to be done.
I designed and had 2 of these cradles cut and bent. Fits the rci 30g wedge cell. (A less expensive option to the jazz jeepseed cell) You can pick it up unwelded, tacked or fully welded from me. It's meant to mount in the chassis with 2 cross 1.75 tubes. Made from .104" steel
Located in eastvale...
The 2wd frame is vastly different then the 4wd frame on both s10 and 1500. In most scenarios moving the pivots forward does require moving the steering as well. However I had more steering with the steering in stock location. Completely different chassis will have completely different issues
Clearance is tight with the truck intake and accessories and the front diff. The coil packs don't clear the brake booster either so I went with a 2500 hydroboost unit
The tbss manifolds is really tight to the block for this reason. If I dug I might be able to find you a part number. New build I'm running ebay long tubes as the motorbis 5" back in the chassis
I expect good things. They are basically outer 1500 cvs on each end, and from what I've seen the inner tripod joint on silverados is usually what breaks, so overall they should be stronger.... especially since I'm going from s10 stuff to full size stuff. I wouldn't low gear crawl with them, but...
Build parts are duramax hubs, some track motive axles, a 1500 front diff with 5.13 gears. 14b rear with a spool. Og btr beadlocks I had filled and redrilled to 8x6.5, 37"bfg kdr2s fox 2.5 coilovers and hoping to find some 3.5 bypasses
Now as much as I love this platform, the 4x s10 frame isn't perfect. There's not alot of room for a bigger front diff. The stock one has no gear options and is tiny. The front cross member is massive and sticks 6" in front of the suspension and I've repeatedly found it through 2 track or jumps...
